Environmental Responsibility at Malhar

ESG & Certifications

  • We are a vertically integrated operation, with our manufacturing processes conducted entirely in-house. This enables us to maintain control on raw material sourcing through a trusted vendor network and maintain high ethical and environmental standards.
  • Our factory is fully compliant with international certifications, ensuring fair labor practices, sustainability, and safety standards. Our commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation has earned us certifications in ‘Ethical Trade Practices’ and ‘Technical Proficiency’. We are proud to be an export house recognized by the Government of India. Our production facilities meet the highest standards, ensuring both technical precision and social responsibility.

Social Impact Initiatives

Project Karigari

Our flagship initiative functions as an impact fund supporting the families of our artisans (karigars). We work at the grassroot level by helping them scale their home grown businesses and secure financial independence.

Women Empowerment

Women constitute 50% of our workforce, with 80% of leadership roles held by women.

Worker Welfare & Community Support

We provide living wages, healthcare, housing assistance, and educational support for the children of our workforce.

At Malhar, we have set up in house worker-led committees  to focus on holistic well-being and empowerment. They drive medical camps, awareness programs, household welfare initiatives, and grievance redressal, ensuring that our workforce has access to healthcare, social support, and a safe, transparent workplace. By fostering active participation and community-driven solutions, we create a more inclusive, responsible, and resilient work environment.

In-house worker-led committees:

  • Health & Safety Committees
  • Social Performance Committees set up by the management at Malhar (medical camps, awareness programs, household welfare, and grievance redressal) to
  • Internal Complaints Committees for ethical workplace practices

Sustainable & Innovative Materials

  • Banana Leather: We are in the process of experimenting with plant-based alternatives to conventional leather.
  • Recycled Fabrics: We work with fabrics derived from recycled plastic bottles, reducing landfill waste and promoting circularity.

Fabric Recycling

We convert fabric scraps into paper and bags, which we use for product shipping and packaging.

Eco-friendly Packaging

Our packaging materials are designed for minimal environmental impact.

Localized Workforce

By housing our workforce near the factory, we reduce commuting emissions and enhance work-life balance.

Carbon Audit & Ecologi Partnership

We are actively working towards measuring, reducing, and offsetting our carbon footprint. As part of this effort, we are in discussions with Ecologi to conduct a comprehensive carbon audit of our operations. This will help us identify key areas for emission reduction, implement sustainable practices, and contribute to global reforestation and verified carbon offset projects. Through this partnership, we aim to take meaningful climate action, ensuring that our growth aligns with a low-carbon, environmentally responsible future.

Transition to Solar Energy

We are in the process of integrating solar power into our facilities as part of our commitment to renewable energy and carbon footprint reduction. By installing solar plants, we aim to significantly decrease reliance on non-renewable energy sources, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and create a more sustainable production ecosystem. This transition will not only help us operate more energy-efficiently but also contribute to a cleaner, greener future for our workforce and the communities around us.
